DESCRIPTION:Folks\, May 21 is the date. We have 7 aid stations\, plus one monitoring only station\, for a total of 8. Three of those require hiking in\, two of those are fairly serious hikes. \nThe monitoring station is at the bottom of Guaje Canyon and is there solely to call for help in the event a runner is injured. That’s pretty much a solo station from early morning through late afternoon. It’s accessible by dropping down the switchbacks behind Guaje Aid Station. I’ll be planting a cross-band repeater at the head of Guaje Canyon to enable radio comms out of that slot canyon. \nThe other two hiker stations are Guaje Aid Station\, which is a short hike in and out\, and Pipeline\, which is accessible from Camp May. You can start early the same morning and be set up in time\, or some people prefer to hike in the day before and camp overnight. I’ve also seen others driving pipeline road the day before\, but you need a serious 4WD you don’t mind scratching the paint on for that road. \nThe rest are drive up and either park right on it\, or a short walk in. \nMaps and locations for the Aid Stations are available at the JMTR Blog page. \nNow’s the time to commit. SUMMARY:Cedro Peak Trail Run
DESCRIPTION:Held in the Cibola National Forest\, and put together by volunteers\, the trail race routes range from non-technical to very rocky but are friendly enough to be a good starter race for those new to ultra-running and challenging enough for seasoned ultra-runners. \nThe Cedro Peak area is a labyrinth of trails and double tracks minutes from Albuquerque and tucked in the small community of Tijeras.  The start and finish line is at Oak Flat’s Picnic Ground.\nAll courses take runners through a dense forest of ponderosa pine\, juniper and pinon.  Primarily rolling single track\, there are several steep\, but short climbs\, and a few short sections of double track and dirt roads.  Many sections are rocky\, mixed with fast\, non-technical runs.
